Safety of small animals
The shelves are part of the Terramaxx system. Installed in culverts, they allow small animals, amphibians, newts and toads to cross the road safely. The system allows adaptation to newly constructed or existing road culverts.
Participation of ecologists
To ensure that the shelves are fully utilised by small animals, they should be installed together with Terramaxx guiding fences, which guarantee the safe diversion of 100% of the individuals.
The system was developed with the active participation of ecologists who have been researching mortality on and around roads for years.
